Must we force positive thinking when reluctant to act?
Short answer
Easier Done Than Thought invites gentleness and observation of thoughts as they are. Recognizing an uncomfortable thought can accompany action without forcing positivity.
The book reflects on pressuring oneself and covering uncomfortable thoughts with imposed positive ones. Thoughts are recognized as they appear and explored through experience. An editorial prompt is to ask what you are actually telling yourself about a task. Name that comment, then consider a part you can begin. You do not have to declare everything easy in order to observe and act. This is an interpretation of themes in the book, rather than a formula promising an end to procrastination.
